Bali, king of the demons and grandson of Pralhad Maharaja, had taken over the three worlds and deprived the Demigods of their planets. In answer to the prayers of the demigods, the Lord incarnates as Vamanadeva. He appears as a charming Dwarf. He went to beg three steps of land from Bali Maharaja. With His first step He covered half of the universe and with the second, the other half. There was no room for the third step. Since he gave his promise, Bali will propose that the Lord puts His third step on his head.
