This canvas was painted in Provence, in one of those small villages, in a courtyard called "La Treille". La Treille became famous as the place where writer Marcel Pagnol spent his summer holidays during his childhood—at the Bastide Neuve, where he is buried in the cemetery there. It is a very romantic place full of old stones and flowers. In this painting, two rose bushes have climbed towards each other forming a sort of arch. Tomcat is sleeping in the sun. The style is impressionist, the colors are soothing. The painting a detailed rendition of this courtyard.
