Some demons were sent by king Kamsa to kill Krishna in Vrindavana ( from Srimad Bhagavatam, one of the Puranas): Once a demon named Aristasura entered the village like a great bull with a gigantic body and horns, digging up the earth with his hooves. Upon seeing the demon Aristasura in the form of a gigantic bull, the gopis took shelter of the trees. In their terror, they rushed to the Tamala trees, because of the bluish hues of their trunks, (they confused them with the bluish hues of Krishna's skin.)
