Original Oil on Canvas
Details:
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Size: 24" x 30"
This is a smaller painting in oil paint on linen canvas. In this painting, the famous Haridas Thakur is chanting with deep relish the holy name of the Lord. He possesses a small hut and lives simply with no material possessions. He is rightly called our nama acharya, one who chants the names incessantly with deep concentration. He is the guru par excellence who can teach the glories of chanting the holy name. In the distance, you can see the domes of the Jaganath Puri temple. Haridas Thakur was a prominent Vaishnava convert from Islam. Since he was considered a muslin by the people, he never went inside the temple, thinking himself too low birth to be admitted. He had practiced chanting the names of the Lord, 300,000 times daily.
