L'Homme Qui Lit
L'homme qui lit means the man who reads.
This painting was executed in a traditional way with a grisaille layer. My focus was to have great contrast between pure whites and strong dark. I had just visited the Turner exhibit at the Grand Palais in Paris, and therefore, this work is an homage to William Turner. I used many layers of glazing over the grisaille. A peaceful scene, a diverse environment full of antiques and things all mixed up in an old house in Paris, and an old man is simply enjoying a great book.
