After completing the Vedas, the sage Vyasadeva still felt unsatisfied. His spiritual teacher, Narada Muni, appeared and guided him to write the Srimad Bhagavatam, which would reveal the divine pastimes of the Supreme Lord and bring true spiritual satisfaction to the masses. Though Vyasadeva was already a great devotee and detached monist, he realized the importance of describing the Lord’s activities as the essence of Vedic knowledge. This oil painting by Dominique Amendola portrays this pivotal moment in spiritual history. Executed in a classical style, the composition features a unique golden section geometric composition that adds a layer of subtle harmony and mystery to this serene meeting between two ascetics.
