This commissioned painting captures the joyful and mystical scene of the Panihati Chida-dahi Festival, organized by Raghunatha Das Goswami at the instruction of Lord Nityananda. Held on the banks of the Ganges, the event brought together a large gathering of sadhus and Vaishnavas, who were lovingly served chipped (flat) rice mixed with yogurt and bananas. Though Lord Chaitanya was not physically visible to most, He mysteriously appeared to Lord Nityananda, and the two Lords affectionately fed each other in divine play. To the others, it appeared that Nityananda was sitting alone. This subtle yet spiritually rich moment speaks to the loving exchanges between the Supreme and His devotees—sometimes revealed only to the pure-hearted.
