The Proposal

This painting takes its inspiration from the work of Fragonard with his eternal lover's theme. The ardent and poor lover approaches the proud and rich girl, who stands stiffly with her parasol and her white dress. It is painted in a more impressionist style with the colors Monet would use, rather than a classical palette. A young girl standing very straight is receiving the advances of a young man. She is nicely dressed, while his clothes are shabby.
